iPhone Apps and Geeky Nerdy Awesomeness

Last night I was invited to work as a promo model for Maxim.com and let me just say it was that most fun I have ever had promo modeling. Maxim was hosting an event for the creators of Peel.

Peel is a brand new iPhone app that turns your iPhone, iPad or iTouch into a universal remote for your television. Peel suggests Top Pick TV shows for you based on what you watch and like. Instead of a long, boring channel grid, Peel presents an easy-to-use mosaic of your favorite shows, filtered by type and genre in the order you like. It looks like iTunes when you shuffle through album covers.

Peel invisibly controls your entire entertainment system: TV, cable or satellite box, Blu-ray player, AV receiver, Apple TV®, Roku and more. There's nothing to plug into your phone, and there's no hassle with network passwords. In three simple steps, you're controlling just about any home theater right from your iPhone or iPod touch.

Think it sounds too good to be true?? I did too at first but after seeing it in action I am sold!! For those of you (like me) who do not have an iPhone yet, the launch of the Android version is in the works and should be out sometime this year!! Want it now?! You can buy it here.

So enough with the product.. let me tell you about the event.

The event was held at the W Hotel, upstairs in the XYZ Lounge and the remaining banquet rooms on the 2nd level. There was a "theater" system set up so that you could demo the app and hardware, 2 open bars, awesome music, great food (though I didn't get to try any) and a few hundred extremely intelligent developers, engineers, investors and many more.

It felt great to be in a room with people who are really driven and working EVERYDAY to obtain their goals. This type of industry is one that has to stay on top of it's game. There is no, "I'll do it later", "I don't feel like it", "You're not my boss" or even any promises made that will never be achieved. I have to hand it to this special group of people, without them our technology wouldn't exist or for that matter be getting better everyday. Just think, on the days you feel like you hate your job and you run to your phone to tweet about it or facebook it.... these are the people who created the ability to do that and constantly make sure that it is up and running properly. Can we give these guys a round of applause??

Either way.. I'm excited. I'm glad I got to be there and I am hoping to see some of those amazing individuals in the near future.

Another amazing app that is going to change your life....... Dibbs... check it out.. I'll be blogging about it latter.
